Hi there everyone! I'm somewhat new to java and brand new to java ranch and very happy to be a part of this great site. I have some broad knowledge of java via some video tutorials I've been watching made by SUN back in 2005. I feel that I have the general sense of the syntax of basic java down pretty well and need some advice of how to move forward. A friend of mine works at a digital design company and they mostly deal with companies websites and online advertising. They do web sites and other digital advertising/media for companies such as Apple (100% of it), HTC, EA, Activision, Lenova, HP, etc.

Long story short, this company has a java intern position opening and the requirements are that I have a decent understanding of Java EE. My question then is, in knowing that this company works mostly on websites, what would be a good focus area of focus for me in order to apply for this internship? The thing I'm trying to avoid most is learning something that I will not need for this job and in turn waste time I could be using elsewhere.

I hope the members of this forum can help me out. This site seems like a really great and friendly place for newbies like myself.

JEE is a very very broad area covering lots of technologies. But for focusing on the web, Servlets and JSP are the foundation of just about everything else.

Thanks for the reply. I will put my focus mainly into those topics then. If you or anyone else has any more insight/advice feel free to let me know.
