Dear All,
After browsing through the forum I am a bit confused about the level of detail required for Assignment Part 2 of the exam.

1) I was of the impression that the level of detail from Mark Cade was probably going to be just enough, however I find that it is quite high level. Browsing through the forum I find a lot of people have provided extremely detailed and low level details (almost down to code). My deployment diagram infact looks very similar to the one in the Mark Cade assignment.

2) I am using visio for all my diagrams, What is the best format to export to? I was going to export it as a gif/png(???) and then hand-write an index.html that links to all these images with some explanatory text. Can someone confirm if this will be sufficient?

1) I was more detailed than Cade for most diagrams, but not as detailed as some people here. My deployment diagram was about the same level of detail as Cade's. See the book FAQ for some concerns about the sample diagram. Also see my blog for some level of detail comments.

2) Yes. That is what I did. I also have some tips on using Visio for the assignment.

When i started working on SCEA5 assignment-i was also in the similar dilemma. Finally i ended up with High level architecture, high level design and in some of the components almost low level design. I just wanted to play safe-there is no harm in providing more detail. Though Cade keep on saying in the book - "they are more interested to know the answers of how rather than what?" but the solution provided in Cade's book was too much high level.

No comments on the usage of tool-use the one which you already know as it will cut down your time significantly. there is no right or wrong tool-you won't get more marks for neatness but that doesn't mean that you can create your diagrams which are too cluttered and looking not at all neat(some degree of neatness should be there. Use PNG format as you can reduce the images to a great extent...you can refer my blog for more details.
