I'm about to start creating the UML diagrams. I've found the Visual Paradigm UML designer to be a perfect tool for this. I'm planning to buy the Modeler edition in order to create several diagrams (restriction in the community edition afaik), but I've read that all printed/saved diagrams will have a watermark on them. Will this be a problem for the exam?

Hi,

I used Visual Paradigm, the community edition. If you create one diagram per project, you will get a litle watermark on the left top corner of the exported diagram image, easily erazable with any graphic tool you got.
Otherwise, if you create more than one diagram in the same project, then you will get a lot of watermarks disposed at different place on all your exported diagram image.

...Will this be a problem for the exam?

Is it worthy to take this risk ?

So you created several projects in Visual paradigm, one for each UML diagram, and then erased the watermark from all the diagrams afterwords?

The assignment work being done by us not for commercial use. This does not violate the licensing clause for community edition of Visual Paradigm. I am also using community edition of Visual Paradigm.

Another way to get clear diagram is to get the screen shot of the diagram and ten paste that in mspaint and cut the image and save from there. The only condition with this approach is that your max size of image could equal to screen size.

Another way might be to use Evaluation version for 30 days instead of community version, we just have around a month now for submission before deadline, has anyone used VP evaluation version? Does it also makes watermark like "Evaluation version" or it is clean of any watermark?

Another way for working longer than 30 days is that we can use community version for designing until we actually want to export as image then we can install Evaluation version and export cleanly, anyone tried like this?

I tried both versions, community and evaluations editions, both have watermarks. Screen-shot and pasting in Paint works but for bigger diagram its a problem. Any solution for that?

Will it be risky to keep the image with watermarks?

Thanks...

Hi Siddhartha,

I found the reply given by "Youssef Ben Kaddour El Wazzani" very useful.

If you create one diagram per project, you will get a litle watermark on the left top corner of the exported diagram image, easily erazable with any graphic tool you got.

Thanks Youssef

For the same reason, I moved on to another tool called Omondo, its evaluation version doesn't contain any watermark and diagrams have better look and feel.

Thanks Gurukant.

I emailed to VP sales and they have monthly rentals for $5 with minimum of 3 months purchase. So $15. If you press a little probably they will give rental for a month too or $5. I got the 3 months rentals for $15 and got my watermark free image. one of the ways if you don't mind spending a few bucks....

That's correct. However I decided to send my assignment without erasing it. It is just a small text.
