Hi Rancher,

Somebody know about the"Wireless Phone Company" Assignment ?

In the end of the assignment.the 4 section: "Marking", mention the minimum scores that must be obtained to pass, but states: "The tentative marking for this beta is Described bellow ..."

And the sum of all points resulting in 160, this score usually have all assignments?, or is that me in particular gave me a draft for review in BETA?

Hello,
I have the same "Wireless Phone Company" assignment (downloaded it at the beginning of this month).
My instruction contains two sentences with the word beta inside:
"The tentative marking for this beta is described below. The markings will be finalized based on the results of the beta."
Because I am not English native speaker I don't know exactly what the word beta means in this context.

Maybe other ranchers could clarify this issue?

beta means not yet final and that it could change. Are you part of a OCMJEA 6 beta or is this from the OCMJEA 5 real exam where they are testing out a new assignment?

My 1Z0-865 (now underway) is a different assignment, and it also uses the word 'beta' without explanation.

I also have the same Beta stuff with a different assignment named "Retire Early".
I guess they are providing all new assignments starting this month, as these are new assignments they cannot decide on passing marks yet same as with all Beta exams from Sun/Oracle, so they are going to analyse results of all these new assignments and then decide upon passing marks, hence called Beta.
I also checked if oracle launched Beta Architect exam for J2EE 6 but cannot find anything on oracle's site.

Same thing in my case and the "Gemstone" assignment. However I don't think that these are new or that the grading requirements will be different. They are just probably recycling some very old ones from the time the JEE5 architect exam was still in beta phase. (For e.g. I remember seeing a reference to both "gemstone" and "retire early" assignments in some very old posts in this forum).

This relieves me a little bit as I had similar concerns in my head. This is how I am planning to address these:

A) Mismatch between my assignment name "Gemstone" and the name under the diagrams which is "Retire early" - Considering it to be a copy/paste mistake, I have to ignore it
B) Confusion with "Beta" - Going by comments from all of you
C) Requirement mismatch within different sections - Make appropriate assumptions and document them in the order of their significance to the solution

This thread is about the word "beta" in the assignments. If there are any more requests to discuss things that shouldn't be discussed (publicly or privately), I'm closing and/or deleting this thread.
