Hi all,
In my present company I was hired for a Java profile.Previous to that I had 9 months experience on contract basis in another company in Java (JSP/Servlets).I have SCJP and SCWCD certs which I got by hard labor as I had not much practical experience in those.
Its more than 3 months in my present job.At the time of interview I asked about the job nature and I was told that I would have to work in EJB,Struts and hibernate etc.And initially I was asked to study EJB.
But now I have been completely assigned work in Cold fusion and Flex etc.At first I thought that may be these are a few things which everybody here must work in to lesser or greater extent. But now I am just projected as coldfusion developer. And to my surprise in the excel sheet which maintains the skill set of Employee I am shown as having nil skill in JSP/Servlets and basic skill in Java.

I was very happy to get a regular job.But now I feel as if my hard labor is going to drain.I wanted to have some expertise level in JavaEE after 3 years experience. But Now I fear I would become Jack of all trades.
My colleagues here are telling me that forget Java and become expert in Coldfusion and Flex. Some are saying CODE and forget about technlogy.
I have no hopes of getting any Java Work here at this company.
Now its around 4 months I have been out of touch of Java.
If I want to search for a new job I need to practice Java at home and also learn the things which I thought I would be given a chance to work here.
At my job, both coldfusion and flex are new to me.So If I want to perform good at job, I would need to concentrate on those. But if I do that I would definitely forget Java.

I know one should not depend on technologies. But I am almost starting my career and i want to have some expertise in one technology at least and i chose Java almost 2 years back.

I also want to know future scope of coldfusion and/or coldfusion+Java.

Thanks for any guidance.
I am really confused.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
