Can you share the snippet of server.xml which you have updated?

You can change the Tomcat http port to whatever you like (allowing for OS restrictions and port conflicts), however, there are several other port IDs you'll need to change as well if you want to run 2 separate tomcats at the same time, or you'll conflict with them. Do a general text search of server.xml and you'll see them. They include ports like 8443 (SSL), 8009 (Apache AJP), 8005 (Tomcat control) and others.
