I am starting to study java core. So I have to buy a book and my friends have recommended me Java The Complete Reference by Herbert Schildt.. But when I did some research on web the 8th edition of the book is coming which is updated to jdk 7.
So should I wait for this latest version or should go on and buy the jdk 6 version book available in the market and how much is the difference between jdk 6 and jdk 7 in the basic learning??
Any suggestion will help. I have prior knowledge of C++ and C and have studied Head First Java till Exception Handling..
The Head First Java is really a cool book and I will complete the rest of the book in 2 weeks or so.
The problem is that I find Head First Java good to learn the concepts and coding skills for java but when it comes to in depth knowledge and formal definition of key concept the book doesn't help much. I am facing the difficulty in giving the definition of some concepts and answer to questions like how JVM works etc as I am facing job interviews after completing my graduation in Information Tech.
Thats why my friends recommended Complete Reference Java
