I took the essay exam on Monday...the timer icon in the exam just did not work - throughout the exam, I couldn't know how much time was left...when I click on the timer icon in the right-hand corner, nothing happens. I called the exam center guys and they were also not sure why it wasn't working - they said they were also new to this Pearson thing...they were kind enough to help me with the time elapsed - they told me when still 20 minutes were left and with that help I was ok...not sure if anyone else experienced this...

I took essay exam on 18th June. Yes, I did experience the same. Somehow, I ignored it and went on to write the exam, good thing is I got an print out after completing the essay exam saying my assignment and essay will be graded.

But in PersonVUE records the status of essay exam is showing as "Error" --- When I contacted Pearson they told -- they are not able to figure out what happened and it will take 5 days to figure out what happened!!!...I am concerned that my exam answers are lost ...and will they ask to retake???:-(

Did anyone's status is showing "Error"?

Note - I had uploaded assignment to Pearson with special voucher Oracle gave me as I had downloaded assignment from Prometric in April 2011.

OMG. After reading this, I checked my Pearson account and it shows 'Error' too. Can't believe this. I will send a communication to Pearson too.

I took this exam yesterday and got a print out like you said. Thankfully, the status of my exam on Pearson shows as 'Taken'. I didn't do anything different - well the only thing I didn't do was click on the timer!

Few more things about the test:
1. The strangest thing was as you have mentioned, there was no timer. However, went a few minutes past 2 hours and I could still make changes (this I knew by setting my stop watch as soon as I agreed to the Tc and Cs). The proctor was nowhere to be seen (in fact I found out that she was in a different floor altogether) and didn't come to tell me my time was up. So I took my time and did some 'proof reading' and finally clicked on the 'end exam' button after about 10-15 mins! (OK I hope admitting that does not land me in trouble ) And then the lady proctoring the exam (who had been watching me over CCTV) asked why I was typing so much for a multiple choice exam!!! I did mention to her that it never timed out - Oh, I handn't realised' was her reply

2. Contrary to what everyone says on this site and on personal blogs, there are clipboard facilities - copy, cut and paste. These three buttons are there just above the text area that you are supposed to type your answer in. So I guess this is something new they have added after moving over to Pearson. Oh and they work as well. I tried it while waiting for my infinite clock to timeout

3. Personally I prefer the Pearson interface - the Prometric one used to look very Java 1.1.

I have just taken the essay exam too, and as observed, NO TIMER:) In Pearsonvue the status is taken. Thank God it over, now let's just wait for the result :)

Just an update -> had couple of lengthy Pearson customer service talks and finally they told they had some technical challenge and "program coordinator" was able to locate the test exam data & status will be updated in next 3-4 days!...just keeps on delaying ....not sure how long it would take to send to Oracle for review....got used to these things now..waiting waiting

hmm looks like some issue with Pearson, I remember Pearson site was showing scheduled maintainance on the weekend, probably there were technical issues posting the answers. I think we should just keep an eye on Pearson status just to ensure that our exam data has been posted without any error ...as end of the day it matters a lot to us...

For me, they said as per the policy they can't allow me to bring in wrist watches. and neither would the timer work - so had to rely on the people there. And my examiner too told me that this is the first time she is seeing an exam where there are only textual questions - and then I had to explain her the whole thing - and the result was surprising for them too - a 'pending' status - new for them.
And yes, there was cut, copy, paste buttons above the text box - they work across questions too - however, the usual keyboard shortcuts won't work. We have to select the text with mouse and then use the buttons provided by them.
