Hi All,

I have few doubts about OCMJD.

1) Is it necessary that I've to wait for a specific amount of time in between my assignment submission and essay exam? Can I take my essay exam the same day I submit assignment (I mean after submitting it)?

2) I found a sentence from OCP Team's mail (oli mueller's post : https://coderanch.com/forums/posts/list/80/529131#2447066) saying:

"In order to ensure that you have at least one week to resubmit if you fail, you should submit your assignment and complete your essay by June 25, 2011. Any assignments and essays submitted after June 25 cannot be guaranteed to receive a grade in time to resubmit before the July 31 deadline. "

Does this mean that I'll have to get result of my exam before 31st July to avoid classroom training, or is it enough to complete both parts just before 31st July?

Also, if I'm not in position to submit my assignment and take essay exam on 25th June, then is it ok? and is it worth spending next 3-4 weeks at full throttle for assignment? (by worth, I mean that if I complete both parts just before 31st July and I get the result after 1st August, do I still have to take the classroom training)?

Folks, I'll also need your advice on my situation:

I've purchased the assignment last week

My initial plan was to take the exam before 31st July and retake it if I fail (as per my knowledge, retaking did not require classroom training)

But now it seems Oracle has (abruptly) changed the policies saying that if I don't pass the exam before 31st July, then just like any other first-time candidate, I'll also have to take classroom training Is it true?

I think I'll have to pass the exam at first attempt only (and guess what? since I'm working, I can't give more than 2-3 hours per day for this )

I've got a feeling that next 3 weeks are gonna be pretty memorable

Hi Anayonkar, I think this thread here will answer most of your questions about the submission dates.

Short answer to your questions:

1/ you can't submit for essay exam before you submitted the assignment. So if you submit the assignment just after midnight, you can schedule for the essay exam the same day (but of course that depends on the availability of the test center of your choice)

2/ If you submit both parts before October 1, 2011 you will not have to fulfill the mandatory course requirement (even if you get your result 2 months later)

3/ If you need to resubmit after October 1, 2011 you'll need to follow a mandatory course. If you are able to resubmit your assignment before the deadline (October 1) you don't need to follow the mandatory course. On the positive side: almost all people pass this certification the 1st time.

Good luck!

Make sure to create a Pearson account (if you don't already have one) in advance. According to them it can take up to 24 hours.

I bought the assignment the 25th june 2010. Wrote to Oracle last week and received a voucher to upload the assignment.

I planned on uploading the assignment last night and then taking the essay the exam today. However, I waited until I was ready to upload, before creating the account, only to find out that there was a wait involved. I am still waiting.
So much for my plan I will not be able to complete the requirements before the 25th

I have a question about the voucher I received after writing to Oracle:
the expiry date on the voucher is in fact in december (6 months from now), and not as I expected the 25th of june 2011. Does this mean that I have an extra 6 months to complete the requirements?

The voucher I received for the essay exam has an expiry date a year from now....

To submit the assignment you have 6 months (new time limit). So you have 6 months to submit the assignment AND take the essay exam. That's a new policy since June 1, 2011 (see the sticky thread).
If you submit the assignment or take the essay exam after October 1, 2011 you'll need to follow the mandatory course. So if you want to avoid this expensive course, then you'll have to complete before October 1, 2011 and you won't have any advantage of the 6 months to finish this certification.
