I hope questions about jQuery plugins are allowed here. Let me know if it's off topic.

I'm trying to make the tablesorter plugin sort on a hidden field. The docs say it has this capability, but don't explain how to do it. My table has a td that displays the date as "June 1, 2011" and a hidden field with the date as "20110601". As it sorts now, it thinks August is the first month of the year. I need to sort on that hidden field.

Can anyone point me to examples or documentation on this?
