can we just make GUI in java and , download and compile linux kernal to make a new os for mobiles ..?
the kernal will be of linux and GUI ll be different .

Android is a Linux-based OS for mobile phones, which runs something that is very similar to Java (it officially isn't called Java, but really looks a lot like it).

i guess all the main parts (jobs) will be taken care by the linux kernal . now the problem is we can make a GUI but how to merge this gui with linux kernal to be one os ?
i m a final year student , and i m serious to implement such a new thing .
thanks for your opinion given to me i appreciate it any thoughts that make this happen are most welcome .

and i guess that the language is java only i have dig a lot of information regarding andriod ..and i found that it is based on java only infact the API which they provide for developers are all written in java ....
