Hi,

We are using a Java Swing Client on Windows XP SP3 system. having been using it for a long time ( 3 years), since last couple of months the Java window becomes white and is unrespnsive, only way to recover is kill it and sometimes when it is killed system automatically restarts.

The white screen could happen any time while using the application is being used or not, thats what it makes difficult to troubleshoot. Also everything looks normal in the Task Manager when it happens.

The Java version is 1.4, but we have also tried using Java 5 and 6 but still issue is there.

has anyone had issue before or any suggestions to troubleshoot will be appreciated.

thank you
Jit

You know about Concurrency in Swing? As in, you shouldn't do anything to the GUI from any thread except the EDT?
Also, you don't see any exceptions if you run the program from a command prompt?

Thanks for reply.

We are not doing any gui updates from any other thread, it has been working since a long time, didn't do updates or anything.

This issue just started happening recently.

And you don't get any exceptions in the command prompt window?

Make sure your graphics hardware drivers are updated. This kind of issue has been reported to be due to old buggy drivers.
