Hello all,

I recently realized myself is in a state of confusion about what career path to pursue. Currently I'm a consultant for about 2 years with my company which is in the data warehousing (DW)/business intelligence (BI) field. The things I do include reports, data transformation, database admin/tuning.

At the same time, I want to do Java/J2EE development yet, my company doesn't have much Java-related projects. Oh I'm SCJD some time ago but didn't find it that helpful in my current position.

Also my company wishes me to pursue DBA certifications in IBM DB2. I'm still deciding whether to do it or not. And if I do I most likely also pursue Oracle DBA.

Therefore, I want to ask
1) are there Java opportunities in the DW/BI field?
2) can software developers benefit by pursuing/having DBA certs?
3) should I consider changing job to become to a more Java exposed company?

Thanks
