Path for a late fresher

Hi friends,

I am guy, around 35 yrs. of age, who for the last around ten years is working in a Government organization with a non IT profile.
However, willing to switch to IT, I recently completed Masters in Computer Applications and also cleared SCJA. I am further about to take SCJP in a short while. So far as experience is concerned, I have made 2-3 Java projects as a freelancer. Moreover, I also made a discussion forum in PHP which is hosted at www.anandprojects.co.in

I would be extremely grateful, if you guys can tell how I should switch to IT, as I do not have a very impressive resume for being tied to a Govt. non IT Job, it definitely lacks on the experience front. Moreover, what other courses should I take to improve on it.

Good to hear from you. Glad that you had been doing some ground work to prove your capabilities in terms of Java projects as a freelancer. As far as I know, the direct entry into a IT firm may sound difficult as they have certain tag lines which directly links with your year of pass out and experience.

However, there may be chances that companies hire people on demand based on the project needs. You can just watch out for such space and keep continuing as a freelancer. There is nothing wrong in floating your CV in job sites like Naukri.com, monster jobs etc.,
