The book in question here is 97 Things Every Programmer Should Know not 97 Things Every Software Architect Should Know

Answering as editor: yes, 97 Things Every Programmer Should Know does focus on software development practices.

Answering as contributor: this is much less true of 97 Things Every Software Architect Should Know.
