How did the author come up with this list? Is it from their experience, or did they include the opinions of others?

To clarify, I'm not strictly speaking the author of the book: I am the editor. The book includes 97 items from 73 different contributors. In other words, the experience is that of other people, but my experience influenced the selection of the items.
