Headfirst are brain-friendly books.

The books which were mentioned in this thread are more strict.

Thanks smith for the comment..yes I am a fan of head first series due to their brain friendly nature.
Actually I was referring from exam point of view...ie objectives covered.....sometimes to what extent does the exam expects us to know, our scope etc etc....Thanks in advance

I recon that EJB 3.1 by Andrew Lee Rubinger + EJB 3.1 spec + exam simulator is a powerful fusion.

Head First EJB is for 2.x version of EJB, so it is more or less useless. I personally use EJB in Action now, but I will also skim over EJB 3.1 from oreilly.

I hope it is, cause that is what I am reading right now But as I said, I am planning to definitely skim over EJB 3.1 to see differences between 3.0 and 3.1, its just that I have read some negative reviews about EJB 3.1 book, that it is hard to learn from, so I preferred EJB in Action to first learn things, and then EJB 3.1 to get ready for the exam.

Saw a lot of critic(-ive) reviews of the book in the amazon link given. Will appreciate some reviews about the book from ranchers in the forum.

Is the exam for EJB 3.1, i am looking at Oracle Certification site and it tells EJB 3.0

Hi,

EJB 3.1 isn't much different from EJB 3.0, however there are some important features added.

The exam is targeted at EJB 3.1 so you should know the topics that were added in the latest version.

Yes, you can choose:
EE6 EJB: 1Z0-895
EE5 EJB: 1Z0-860

Note that 1Z0-860 also contains JPA whereas 1Z0-895 doesn't (because there is a separate exam for it: 1Z0-898)

Thanks so much for your response Frits, i am closer to making a decision on the study material now, so if i am going to take the exam EE6 EJB: 1Z0-895 , i should be looking at books which talk about EJB 3.1 and if i am taking 1Z0-860, i should be refering to EJB 3.0, am i correct?

Correct.

The EJB-books (listed in the ScbcdLinks) alone won't give you enough information for the exam (they are not targeted at the exam).
Try to read the EJB specifications as well and do the Enthuware mocks: that combination will help you to pass the exam well.
