I don't see what that has to do with cookies or sessions at all.

Do you want to count page views or visits? For views, you don't need cookies/sessions at all. For visits, every time a new session gets created, you increment the counter. You can implement HttpSessionListener to do this. For unique visitors, you'd need to use cookies. Note that the count is likely to be inaccurate.

Hi Jeanne,
What is the difference between page views and visit? I thought they are same but then I am missing something.

Thanks

No. A visit (which means a particular user dropping by a web site) can comprise multiple page views. That's why a visit is tied to the number of sessions created (assuming you ensure that no sessions are created for bots).
