byte a=3;
byte b=4;
//byte c=a+b;it generates error due to implicit expansion of byte to int but
byte b+=a;//no error....

My question is why no error occurs in the above line??

Thanks in advance...

The result of a+b is an int. The += operator however performs an implicit cast to whatever is the data type of the left operand.
