I've never bought a song on itunes before because I don't listen to music on my computer or ipad. I want to do so for a speech I'm giving next week. (I'm comparing the iPad and ChromeBook advertising models and I want to open with a few bars of the song from the iPad commercial being played on the iPad. Vs the dead silence from the ChromeBook lack of commercial)

I successfully bought the song from iTunes on my computer. I see it in iTunes > Library > Music and can listen to it on my computer. Then I opened iTunes on the iPad. I don't see anything that looks like it has to do with viewing the music you bought. I also noticed that I don't see any songs in "jeanne's ipad" > Music in iTunes.

What am I missing?

You synch through iTunes.

When your iPad is plugged into your laptop, it will appear in the sidebar under DEVICES:

The Music section gives you the sync options:

I still don't see the sync options. I did see "autofill" so I chose purchased and then autofill. Which caused my one song to show up under ipad > music. Then I re-synced. So in theory it is on the ipad now.

Where on the ipad to I look to see it? I open the itunes app and still don't see a place for downloaded music.

Look in the iPod app. The iTunes app is the portal to the iTunes Strore.

Success. Thank you. I wasn't expecting that as I can't listen to the music on the iTunes app on the Mac. Now that I have my props ready, I can finish adding content to my speech.
