I would imagine that Yahoo has a developer site that has example code. That's most likely the best place to start.

I think I'm missing something - how would sending an email to a Yahoo account help with accessing its calendar API?

Searching for "yahoo calendar java api" or some such phrase yields many results. It would be interesting to know where, exactly, you looked on Yahoo's developer site, and came up wth nothing.
