Hello friends,
I have been studying for SCJP5 exam for a 3 weeks or so. Now i think its time for me to get certified. But 2 days ago I heard about SCJP6 exam, which is almost similar to that of SCJP5. But the problem is I am running out of time and I have to get certified in a week or so. So with good knowledge of SCJP5 can I clear SCJP6 exam just by concentrating on topics which are additional to SCJP6, or shall I continue with SCJP5 itself.
Friends please help me out. Also suggest me recommended books for SCJP6 and portion that is additional to it. I have been using Katty Seirra for SCJP5. Thank you.

This is what is mentioned in Kathys book 1.6 edition -

"other than the addition of the System.Console class and Navigable collections, the Java 5 and Java 6 exams are identical in scope. We recommend that you take the Java 6 exam and not the Java 5 exam, but if you do decide to take the Java 5 exam, this book is still appropriate. The new exam's objectives touch on many of the more commonly used of Java's APIs. The key word here is "touch." The exam's creators intended that passing the exam will demonstrate that the candidate understands the basics of APIs such as those for file I/O and regular expressions".

I have known few ppl who have prepared only for 1.5 and cleared 1.6...but if are aiming for a very high score, probably you should not take a chance.

Thank you Vijay. I have a week or two before getting on with my exam. So I think its better off going for SCJP6 with not much of a change in portion. I would just like to ask you whether toughness of exam has been increased or not. Please share any exam related information that could prove handy for me to get through SCJP6 or even score good marks. Thank you once again.
