I want to extract plain text from MS excel text boxes - not text in cells, but text boxes that are added from the insert menu (or whatever method...)
Here's what I have so far...

This is the cut down version and I have various checks and can confirm:
- I get an HSSFPatriarch
- children is not null
- shape passes the instanceof HSSFTextbox
- an HSSFRichTextString is returned
... but it is of length 0.

Any idea how I can do this?
I've searched long and hard on the internet and there doesn't seem to be much about extracting text from textboxes.
(my example xls has cell data and a textbox with the text: "textbox" in it.)
