How to receive json data in request

Hello,

I am using Struts 2 with Extjs 4.x using the MVC pattern. I have had good success so far but I am currently stuck. I cannot figure out how to define my variable in my action class so it is populated on a request. This is the request payload from the client as seen in the Chrome Network debugger:



Here is the action class variable


This is the struts xml entry:


I hit the correct method in the action class but my variable is not set. I read this json plugin but cannot figure it out.
