Hi,

I'm currently almost complete with the assignment so I tried to register on Pearson Vue for the second step, which is the 1Z0-856 exam. I get this message when I try to complete the payment: Oracle Certification Program policy requires that a 1Z0-855 or 1Z0-844 exam be graded before registration for exam 1Z0-856 is allowed. It's true that I haven't uploaded a solution for the assignment yet, but the message somehow scares me.

Please tell me what does this mean? Do I only have to submit the 1Z0-855 assignment and then the payment for the 1Z0-856 will be unlocked? The reason I'm asking is because I planned to take both 1Z0-855 and 1Z0-856 before the 1st of October to avoid the expensive courses that become mandatory (I have 15 years Java experience so I really want to avoid those courses). From what I understood from friends of mine that took this certification, very soon after you submit the assignment, you can register for the essay.

You need to upload your assignment first. In Pearson Vue; Click "Schedule a Test", then click "Master Assignments" link and select one of the following codes to upload your assignment.

Java SE6 Developer Master Assignments
1Z0-855 Java Standard Edition 6 Developer Certified Master Assignment: Purchase this assignment if this is your first attempt at the Java SE6 Developer Certified Master Assignment.
1Z0-857 Java Standard Edition 6 Developer Certified Master Assignment Resubmission: Purchase this assignment if you did not pass the Java SE6 Developer Certified Master Assignment you purchased from Pearson VUE.
1Z0-844 TRANSITION (VOUCHER ONLY) Java SE6 Developer Certified Master: Obtain a voucher from suncert_ww@oracle.com and purchase this assignment if you purchased your Java SE6 Developer Certified Master Assignment prior to June 1, 2011 and need to submit it to Oracle through Pearson VUE.
1Z0-842 TRANSITION ASSIGNMENT Java SE6 Developer Certified Master: Obtain a voucher from suncert_ww@oracle.com and purchase this assignment if you did not pass the Java SE6 Developer Certified Master Assignment you purchased prior to June 1, 2011 and need to resubmit now through Pearson VUE.

Yes, you have to submit the assignment before being able to schedule the essay exam. But there seems a bit of a problem with submitting the assignment (see here).

Thanks for your answers,

I knew that I needed to submit the assignment prior to registering for the essay. But look at the error message I got: Oracle Certification Program policy requires that a 1Z0-855 or 1Z0-844 exam be graded before registration for exam 1Z0-856 is allowed.

graded??? Can it be just a misuse of terms or maybe something changed with the registration policy for the essay? I really need to register for the essay this week to avoid that expensive course.

Thanks,
Calin

I uploaded my assignment last saturday and i could schedule my essay exam just after it. You don't have to wait for grading.
