Hi. I'm a very sociable person (despite I work as a programmer) and I have some frustration/stress/anger built in me, which I would like to share with you, but in an educational way. It's about updates, and about superiors who think that updates are evil. For about 2 weeks now, I've been struggling with a task I have been given in Oracle's BI Publisher version 10g: to join two damn DataSets; one consisting in a .csv file inner-join with another consisting in a database. After trying all kind of ways and tricks and prayers, building web-services, stored procedures and multiple tuning methods to get an efficient result, I finally convinced my boss that it would be best to update to the final release of the software: 11g. After installing it, I have done the task in about 10 minutes, while eating a sandwich.

As coders, most of you already know how important is to be kept up to date with everything to ease your work, but more than that, updates might solve easily problems otherwise deadly. So for the new guys out-there, always keep track of the newest changes in your field of interest, as they might rescue you from tens of hours of dark thoughts about your boss' family and hard-work.

Whev...my soul is now freed ..gotta go and grab a beer .

I AM MIGHTY! Especially when I hold this tiny ad:
