While shooting fish in a barrel I like to have my cake and eat it too because a stitch in time saves nine; not just any nine, but the whole nine yards, except when the nine is out in left field or not having a leg to stand on (unless that leg is being pulled).

i guess you can chalk that one up to cultural and language differences. in a way it reminds me of the famous computer translation from some game. "all your base are belong to us"

I'm pretty sure he's trying to be funny. However, I think he's German, so it's a bit hard to tell.

He's pretty funny; especially when he talks about shooting a cake. However, maybe he's not trying to be funny. I can see why someone might question the idiom shooting fish in a barrel since it suggests cruelty. Similarly, I can see why someone might question the idiom shot in the arm since it suggests narcotic use.

Or shot in the dark since it suggests a cavalier attitude towards firearm safety.

Apart from the philosophical question about whether one can say “German” and “funny” in the same sentence, I didn’t like that video clip. It is not at all funny; I’d sooner get shot of it. That is, as long as nobody thinks I am feeling suicidal.
