Hi ranchers ,

In following code switch uses the array as a expression , Shouldn't it give s compile error since switch expression must be compile time constant and array get instantiated a run time .

switch expression need not be a compile time constant . instead case label need to be a compile time constant

from jdk7 onwards you can use String in Switch case.

So, it doesn't throw a java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException.

The switch expression can be anything that can be implicitly be converted to an int.
The switch case lables can only be compile time constants.
