Are you interested in Ceylon?

Hi,
Ceylon programming language got a home. Are you excited about this new boy in the town?
(On a side not, the elephant mascot doesn't look expressive to me. The first time I saw it, I thought about Apache Hadoop).

I was sometime back interested in learning these new languages, but then I was not finding lot of opportunities to apply them. So kind of refraining to learn new stuff.

I might allot sometime to go through the language. Did you try it? Any feedback?

But good to see JVM becoming a platform for lot of other languages.

I didn't try it since there is no public release yet, I only read the documentation.
My feelings are mixed regarding Ceylon and even JetBrain's Kotlin. The concept is nice and there are many cool features but if you can't use any of these languages, then what?

I really wish if Oracle create a better Java that contains ideas and concepts from Scala, Ceylon and even Clojure. To much to ask from Java 10 / Java X?

Wow haskell nice!! How do you find it?

I'm getting used to it, but I love it. It suddenly exposes gripes I have with Java that I didn't know I had. I think it's very elegant, if difficult to understand at stages.

A blessing and curse is that it only has pure functions, which my inner software engineer loves, but I do miss object states often.

I made a Sudoku solver in Haskell, and looking back on the version I made in Java makes me shiver :P

I will report on it more once I get better at it :P

2011 was my Clojure year and I'm going to invest in it next year.

Another thread here made me dig up my Java chess program.

I'm thinking of giving a Haskell version a shot. I might post some code for comparison later on, if anybody is interested.
