Welcome to the Ranch.
As the error tells you,

some variable on line 56 is null.

Thanks Maneesh Godbole, looking into the issue.

The issue was resolved, actually the file name i am retrieving using the method file.getFileName() is giving me the relative path.
In Mozilla Firefox it is converting into absolute path, where as in Internet Explorer it is sending the relative path. Due to which it is giving the NPE.

I need to change the method to file.getBaseName().
