Can you explain in more detail what exactly you want to do with this library, and what exactly you don't understand about the documentation and examples? It's hard to give you a useful answer if you don't tell us what you're going to use it for and when you ask such a general question like "I don't understand it".

I've looked at the library for a moment and I immediately see things I don't like. For example, the class "BasicPasswordEncryptor" isn't doing any encryption at all. Instead, it calculates an MD5 hash over the password. Hashing is not the same as encryption; many people mistake hashing algorithms such as MD5 for encryption algorithms. So the naming of that class does not help people make this distinction...

Not to derail this thread, but the usage of "one-way encryption" for hashing/digesting is fairly widespread. But I'm not fond of that usage either.

ok an easy way to put this is (encrypting aside) is that i just want to encrypt the database Username and Password in hibernate.cfg.xml. So i started searching and found out this, but if there is any other way to do this then i`ll be cool. Just wanted to know if i had more options.
