Hello,

I am in a development team where Eclipse has become the standard IDE to work with. However, one developer has chosen to use Netbeans.
Is there any reason why it is not a good idea to have different team members use different IDE's?
We are all together working on a Java project using Maven and SVN.

Cheers,

One disadvantage might be that the developer using NetBeans might use different IDE-specific configuration files for the project. But since you're using Maven, that's probably not such a big problem.

I've also worked at companies where developers were free to choose their own IDE. Some used Eclipse, others used NetBeans, and others used IntelliJ IDEA. We did not have any significant problems with that way of working.

I also don't see any big problems in my team which is using both Eclipse and NetBeans.
