That's hardly a switch of career. I've done dozens of different types of jobs using different languages throughout my career.

Now if you wanted to start driving a bus, that's a switch of careers.

To follow up, I have to say that I have tons and tons of respect and admiration for anyone who can do a mid life career change. A career change to do something that they want to do, knowing full well that they will be starting from scratch.

I know of two. One who gave up being a programmer to being a pastry chef. The other gave up being a program manager to being a Pilates instructor. In both cases, there were more than a decade of experience in their previous professions.

Yes, it is possible to change career but do not rush it. You need to practice yourself doing others so you can easily adapt to the new environment. Before you leave your current job you should find first the job that is related on what you like. Good Luck in changing your career.
