currently I'm developing a android app that helps blind person to identify currency notes.Is there any image processing API's written in java that can be use in android platform?I'm looking for a API that i can code the image processing part separately and later embed it in to the android app.(I'm new to android development).I'm not looking for a android library/API for image processing.

So this library should use neither AWT/Swing nor any Android-specific classes? My guess would be that such a library does not exist, since it would have limited applicability.
