help needed for html:option

I want display the arraylist data into select box with selected value(db Value should be selected automatically).

for example
ActionForm conatins one property named as Gender
In My arrayList contains Male and Female(Data) but in db value is either Male or Female

By now i want use html ptions or html ptionCollection to do this task
