For OCMJEA part 2, what tools can i use to create the required UML diagrams ? Rational Rose, Visio, Enterprise Architect etc. I was under the impression oracle would provide one after registration for part 2.

No, Oracle doesn't provide one. You can use whatever tool you have already. I used Visio, but wouldn't recommend it. I did pass though.

I've used magic draw, the same Sun has used to draw use cases in assignment. I liked it

By the way, you can use whatever software you like, since it is uml 2 compliance

Thanks for the responses.

Magic Draw - is it an open source? If so, can i get a link to download that please?

I haven't used VISIO . Any reason why it's not recommended (apart from the fact that it's microsoft -). Is it the case that it's not 100% UML Compliant.

Another question i had was how could oracle justify the fee of $300 for part 2? Is that fee supposed to be for grading our assigments alone?

Hello Sunderam,

You can use any UML 2 compliant tool. I used Visual Paradigm community edition. It is similar to Magic draw. It is FREE modeling software available for you. It is adopted by many open source projects and community groups. It has intuitive user interface. You can give it a try.

Hi, I used StarUML and it was good enough for preparing the assignment.
All the best for your submission.

Hi,

You can use Modelio which is Open Source and free. It allows to create UML2 (and BPMN) diagrams.
You can find some video tutorials on youtube which can help to start with Modelio: Modelio community channel.

Hope this helps

Netbeans also comes with some UML modelling tool.
I have not used it practically, is it any good for this exam purpose?
