Invalid package name. 'public' is not a valid Java identifier

in the documentation of gwt
Public Path
it mentions


The default public path is the public subdirectory underneath where the Module XML File is stored.



but I try using the gwt tutorial and create a package
com.google.gwt.sample.stockwatcher.public
ecplise prompt out error


so how to create a 'public' package?

Also, I found that the static resources can be placed under war directory like
war/images/xxx.png
and get the image with path "/images/xxx.png",
so why still need to create a "public" package underneath where the Module XML File is stored (not mention it is not allowed to create such a "public" folder)?
