How to compute delta time and lines per second when reinventing findstr/find/grep

This fragment of code is not working with Groovy 1.9.2-beta. The "/" seems to be causing the problem:


I know, my variable names need some work. jj is the number of lines. start is this start time and end is the end time. Computing the delta time works great. How do I compute lines/second?
