I'm developing a reality show about developing a reality show. The great thing is that a couple of my friends will film the second season, which is the reality show about the reality show about the reality show, at the same time. His friends will capture the fourth season at the same time. I figure within about 30 seasons we'll have everyone on the planet covered. Then I'll start on a reality show about people who watch the first season...

Here in the Netherlands the past few days there has been a sort of scandal about a TV provider who was recording people coming in into the emergency room of a hospital. Some people who were recorded say that they had not given permission to be recorded, or at least that it was not clear that they were being recorded for a TV programme and now the TV provider and the hospital are being grilled about how they treat people without respect.

Imagine that an accident happened and you're injured and brought into the ER. What would you say if some #%^$ asked you, while you're lying there injured, if you want to be recorded for some stupid TV programme? I'd certainly make clear that he'd better go away with his camera.

Why do people think they need to film in the ER of a hospital? What kind of TV programme is that going to be? It's only stupid sensationalism. I hope people will get punished for that stupid idea.

Food shows have been around forever. Ever heard of Julia Child?

I am not sure about this ... IMO, "food shows" and "cooking shows" seems to be in different genres. Personally, I can't imagine Julia Child taking on a "72 oz steak challenge" or eating "woodchuck cacciatore"....

Ah, yeah, I see what you mean. I lament that Food Network seems to have gone from shows on cooking to shows on watching people eat.

And likewise that networks which used to produce shows about science have moved to producing shows about blowing stuff up.

IMO, it's less related to intelligence, and more related to human nature. I best describe it as watching a car crash. There are really no benefits with doing it, but you just can't look away.

Don't laugh too hard. When I get some free time ("free time" is a concept I've had to look up in the dictionary recently) I want to make a series of cooking videos to post on youtube or vimeo. The "series" will be named "From Bear's Kitchen".

That sounds like a "recursive" programming (of TV content) and may be without an exit condition...!!

I would like to start a "reality show on programming" featuring stars/gurus of programming..!! That should be artistic enough not to bore the non-programmers.
