I assume you are referring to the book "Liferay Portal Systems Development " the award book for the week of February 27th.

From the table of content, The book is ideal for all levels. The book covers the liferay cms, the liferay sdk and development methodologies, and how to develop simple and advanced MVC portlets. it's definitely worth owning.
