It is not outdated in the sense that there is no later version. It is outdated in the sense that the world has moved beyond SOAP to a considerable degree - and SOAP is what the exam is mostly about.

Thanks I'm trying to understand two questions.

1. Are people still taking these exams? If yes, can someone explain how is it is useful for the real world/job?

2. If the world has moved on? what is the alternative to SOAP?

Probably Tim means RESTFul web services, which are also covered in WSD 6 exam.

That depends to a large degree on which job market you're asking about. There are large markets (like North America and Europe) where such certifications count for very little, and where actual experience is much more important than theoretical knowledge.
