Hi

My colleague at work successfully passed the exam and said to me, that they only evaluate 20 of the 60 questions. Randomly or not, I don't know. Is this a bad joke? If they choose the 20 ones I've answered wrong, I have 0% regardless of that the other 40 questions could be correct. I hope that's not true and he has misunderstood something...

That's not true, all questions are evaluated. Maybe your friend is confused otherwise it is a bad joke

But it's a little bit true. I passed the exam last Saturday. Before you begin there are some instructions etc., and one point is "not all questions are scored, you won't see if a question is scored or not..." So it seems that it's true, that no all questions count. But there was no hint that only 20 of 60 count.

If I remember correctly, they use that for some "trial" questions. When a new question is developed it can be used like that to see how well answered it is to check that it's of comparable difficulty to the others. But you're probably talking about < 5 questions in a set that are like that.

This is true for many testing systems -- even college entrance exams, which have been around for many decades, have beta test questions. After all, how would you introduce new questions into the test?

I don't think it's right, i'm spending time on questions that wouldn't be scored!! then rushing through questions that would be scored!!

Giant company like Oracle should be able to know how to put questions based on difficulty, wouldn't they? What are they beta testing us exactly?

If i'm paying $350.00 for a final test then it shouldn't be beta testing us! Reminds me of video games, please pay us $50.00 to beta test this game lol.

Not completely sure of the point here. You are not really getting extra questions. The test is timed for a specific number of questions -- so it is not like you are getting less time.

And it is statistical. Everyone has to answer 60 questions in a set time; nobody knows which questions are valid; so it is fair.

There is a difference between knowing how "difficult" a question is, to knowing the pass/fail rate for a question. You can easily insert a question into the test based on the difficulty, but you need the later (pass/fail rate), before you can fairly incorporate (ie. score) the question for the test.
