I am working on creating an excel based report using Java - Jexcel api. The intent is to read a CSV File and populate values in different columns on the excel file and compute various frequency distributions.

I have gone as far as reading the CSV File and populating the contents into the excel and also computing various sums. However I am stuck at the Frequency distribution aspect. I am using an excel template in which the columns for frequency distribution is already present and the corresponding formulae for the cells. After the report is created, when I try to open the file, I get a pop-up error message that the "Data may be lost" and for these columns, the formulae is lost and it has #REF! value. The values read into the other columns remain fine, but only the frequency distribution values are lost (as the formula isn't being retained).

Is there a work around for this problem? Is this something peculiar to the formula for frequency only? I have also included formulae for SUM().. and it seems to work perfectly fine, even if the reference cell values are changed at run time!

Eagerly looking for some direction!! HEEEELLLLPPPPP!!!

Also a possible reason for the above behavior seems to be an issue that "FREQUENCY()" function doesn't seem to be a reconized one. I get the following warning when I run the program:

Warning: Unrecognized function when parsing formula FREQUENCY(K2:K65536,L2:L22) in cell Probe_Report!T14

Does anybody have an idea of how this can be resolved?

P.S: I am using the jxl.write.Formula class.
