Dear Friends,

I am Mechanical Engineer with 7 Years of Experience presently working in GULF (OMAN) and am able to save nearly 2700 SGD after a very decent life style for Two people (No kids)
I have an opportunity with one of companies in Singapore and I have asked for 7500 SGD (Negotiable of course, since I didnt had exact idea on living expense) considering the expense, But they have asked me to give my base line figure and have intimitated that salary asked by me is on very high side,

I just wanted to know that If I along with my wife (wife not working & no kids) want to save at least 3000 SGD, how much should be my salary range.
I cannot share a flate, need to have my own individual Flat, fairly a decent one with a decent life style.
Can you guide me based on above base lines, is it possible with above standard to save 3000 SGD if they offer me some where near to 6000-6300 SGD
Becasue I feel that they will offer me some where around 6200 SGD.

Please need your assistance on that at earliest.

Hi Gaurav,

If you want to keep aside $3000 every month as a savings and want to have decent lifestyle in Singapore, here is the per month break up.
I assum you do not have any financial commitments in India, if you have convert the figure to SGD and add to below list.

1. Your savings $3000
2. Rental $2500 (2 bedroom and hall and kitchen apartment)
3. Groceries $150
4. Veg $100
5. Transport $200 (two persons)
6. Cable TV $100
7. Phones $200
8. Utility bill, we call it PUB means electricity and water $150
9. Monthly additional expenses misc. $1000
10. Tax $150 per month

Total comes to $7550.

Since you do not have kids now, this should be fine, but you need to plan for future also. If you have kids in future, the school fee costs nearly $600 per month for full time day care or even for international schools like global indian, delhi public school etc.

Hope this helps.
