Yes. Since Oracle has bought SUN, SCJP is now OCPJP.

Yes, that is true. You need to go for
OCAJP in case you are going for OCPJP version 7. For version 6, there's no need of any prior certification.

Well, if you have time and money, I would suggest to take slightly longer path of OCAJP + OCPJP 7. The reason being, you would be having certification of latest version of Java. Secondly, there are some new topics like
JDBC in OCPJP7 which are not there in OCPJP6.
