Search a query from the mobile given from the user

hi,

i am working on android platform. i have generated the coding for system. now i need to port it into the android OS. suppose a user gives an query to the mobile. i should search that relevant data existing in the mobile and show that output. It is like the search box in mobile. i would like to know whether any tutorials are available for that and i could code it to android. can any one help me how to proceed ?
