I think it's OK to leave the HTML entities as they are, moreover in most cases forum actually behaves this way (passing them untouched).

So the rule sould be such as... If we have ampersand (&) not folloved by some latin chars and digits with optional leading hash (#) and trailing semicolon (;) then convert it to "ampersand-amp-semicolon" entity, but not just if we have an ampersand, convert it to "ampersand-amp-semicolon" entity.

The regexp is... Hmm, let me think...

&(?!#?[A-Za-z]+?;)

So it's the template processor? Well anyway, I think it's better idea to fine-process strings in java, 'coz it's not so straight. Something's need to be replaced, something's not. You process all these posts cutting out brackets, etc anyway.

Well, that subject?html was a trick, anyway..

I agree with you that these stuff should be considered as business rules.

the code above is gb2312 characterset.


So,just change ${post.subject?html} into ${post.subject}
it can display the CJK Character correctly .


but, i have another question :
The Search engine can't use CJK Character as Keyword, it can't get the result.

Well, the search engine is even bogus with latin like chars

I really don't have experience working with this charsets.. I have put some lessons on my TODO list.. ;)
