Hi,

It would be very nice if some sort of build number would be used, and some sort of CVS tags for JForums repository. This should work of course in an automatic way. I saw this in a lot of projects.

I don't mean build numbers for the Releases, but for the betas , so that users can give a build number when reporting bugs.
This way, the developers of JForum can easily track if a problem is already solved, and not waste time - just close the item.

There are a lot of ways. From simple property files, till simple custom Ant tasks that do this job.
One efficient way is to use "Ant Hill" : http://www.jspwiki.org/Wiki.jsp?page=AntHill - for a litle info about it's features. AFAIK for OpenSource projects like your is free.

There are other tools too, but this one is very simple and efficient.
