A Problem about Chinese

I have installed the JForum with no issues. However, when I input any Chinese charactors and publish it, the topic show some "??" instead of Chinese.

Will this issue caused by MySQL? Or, anything else?

Any suggestion will be highly appriciated!!

In any place? If so, it may be an encoding problem. Try setting the encoding of your mysql connection in WEB-INF/config/<username>.conf and WEB-INF/config/database/mysql/mysql.properties. Also, set the value of the "encoding" key (SystemGlobals.properties / <username>.conf) to the chinese charset (I guess it is BIG-5).

With my server:

Windows 2k Server + Tomcat 5.0 + J2SDK1.4.2 + MySQL 4.1

I just wonder why the charactor used by forum are displayed all right. Seems, they are used \uXXXX to show?

Is there anything, I could do? I use GB-2312...

Hi Rafael,

I found something new. The chinese characters are all displayed as Question Mark. Thus, I think it may be cause by default UTF-8 used by the bowser.

Since I use Tomcat 5.0, How can I use request.setCharacterEncoding("gb2312"); to reset the encoding method? Could you give some advices?

Edit the file WEB-INF/config/SystemGlobals.properties and change the key "encoding". That's all
