naive question on architecture

Why doesn't JForum use Hibernate to abstract out the various db differences? Any plans to use it going forward? Would a port to it be valuable? -Bruce

It does not support because when I started coding JForum, hibernate was just in version 1.0. Now Hibernate 3 looks more interesting, but a port to it will not be a simple task.
Some people told me they were going to write a port to Hibernate, but I never seen the code ;).

I personally will not do.

Note that depending on the hosting company, hibernate may not be allowed in their shared hosting i.e. shared JVM.

Hence, using hibernate may hamper user's adoption of JForum.
